  • What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

    The three main differences between psychiatrists and psychologists are: 

    • Psychiatrists are medical doctors with a medical degree (MD or DO) and psychologists are not. 
    • Psychiatrists can prescribe psychotropic medications to rapidly stablize mental health conditons while psychologists mainly use psychotherapy (talk therapy) which can go on for years, sometimes with the patient seeing no results. 
    • Psychiatrists diagnose illnesses, manage treatment and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illnesses while pyschologists provide psychotherapy only.
  • Do you take insurance?

  • Can I come in as self-pay?
